After cataract

Posterior capsule opacification (PCO) referred to as ‘secondary cataract’ or ‘after cataract’, develops over the clear posterior capsule a few months or even years after a successful cataract surgery.  This results from the growth and abnormal proliferation of lens epithelial cells (LECs) onto the artificial lens implant.

The good news is that an after cataract is successfully treatment with a Yag laser capsulotomy.
