Peripapillary Atrophy

Thinning in the layers of the retina and retinal pigment epithelium around the optic nerve is called peripapillary atrophy. This can be a risk factor for glaucoma, and can also cause your blind spot to be larger than normal. Regular eye exams with fundus photos are recommended to monitor for any changes.
